Sleep apnoea income protection insurance
Income protection insurance is a great way to ensure you and your loved ones are financially secure. These policies will pay out between 60%-70% of your pre-tax income, in the event you cannot work due to injury or illness. If you are signed off work for 4 weeks or more by a GP or doctor, you will usually be eligible to claim.
If you have a medical condition like sleep apnoea, you may be concerned income protection will simply be unavailable to you. It can be harder to get this type of insurance cover – but it’s not impossible. With help from an income protection expert, you may be able to find the cover you need (or a suitable alternative) for a very reasonable cost.

Can I get income protection with sleep apnea?
Income protection with sleep apnea is sometimes available with some limits on underwriting. You might find that you’ll be offered cover with some exclusions such as cardiovascular or respiratory conditions.
An exclusion means that you can still get the cover you need, but you won’t be able to claim for an activity or medical condition specified by the insurer, in this case sleep apnoea. You would still be able to claim for absences from work for a wide range of other illnesses and injuries, as long as they are not related to your sleep apnoea diagnosis.
