Cancer Cover – Covering the costs of treatment

Iam Insured can offer you two types of cancer cover. Everyone will get comprehensive Cancer Cover as part of their Core Cover, but you can also choose Extended Cancer Cover for an additional premium. This provides full cover for biological therapies, and hormone or bisphosphonate therapies.

  • 3 Month Limit when Prescribed on their own

  • Up to 5 years from last cancer treatment date

Yes, if there is enough proven evidence of their effectiveness, there will be cover for the use of new drugs or other treatments, that have not yet been reviewed or recommended by NICE (The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence).

However, this will not cover the use of drugs outside the terms of their licence in the UK; or experimental drugs with no evidence of effectiveness; nor any treatment not considered clinically appropriate in the UK

There will be cover for the use of eligible home chemotherapy, such as tablets, injections and infusions, as well as biological and bisphosphonate therapies. The policy is designed to give you more choice so you can also be treated at home at any point during your care, as long as your consultant agrees – for example, you can start treatment in hospital and decide to go home, or vice versa.

Yes. This cover provides for all primary and any secondary cancers, if your cancer spreads during treatment.

No, family history is not into account when offering cover.

In the event you have Cancer Cover and your cancer is no longer treatable, your policy will cover the cost of palliative care in hospital. If you have Extended Cancer Cover and your cancer is no longer treatable, you will be covered for home nursing care to relieve your symptoms, including pain relief at the end stage, up to a maximum of £1,000 a day for 14 days.
